We bake a comprehensive range of freshly baked breads, buns and rolls daily. Over the years, Albany Bakeries has proven to be leaders in innovation, long lasting freshness, great taste and Superior quality.

History
In the Baking

  • 1970

    The beginning. Together, Tiger Oats and National Milling Co. take over a number of independent bakeries to create Albany Bakeries.

  • 2003

    Best of Both White Bread is launched. For the first time ever, South African families get to enjoy a bread that looks and tastes like white bread, without losing out on the goodness of brown bread.

  • 2006

    The Olde Cape Range is re-launched with exciting new packaging and two delicious new flavours: White Seed Loaf, and Low G.I. Albany Superior Low G.I. Bread is also introduced, becoming the first low G.I. seed loaf in the traditional sandwich market.

  • 2007

    A new great tasting and healthy variant to the Olde Cape range is introduced: Albany Olde Cape Muesli and Fruit. Albany Superior Hi Top White Bread also makes its entrance, bringing back an age old tradition with Superior quality.

  • 2008

    Albany’s low G.I. offering is extended and made even more accessible with the debut of Albany Superior Low G.I. White Bread.

  • 2009

    Albany 100% Smooth Wholegrain is launched, keeping kids happy and healthy with the goodness of wholegrain and the smoothness of white bread.

  • 2010

    Albany Superior Buns are introduced, once again proving Albany to be leaders in innovation. Albany Everyday Bread is launched in the Western Cape, offering families everyday value.

  • 2011

    The Albany Ultima health bread range launches with Multigrain Brown and Rooibos and Rye Brown bread, crammed with whole grains, fibre, energy and bursting with delicious flavour.

  • 2012

    Albany Superior launches a rolls range, while Albany Superior Buns & Rolls introduce buns in Superior White, Best of Both White and Low G.I. Seeded Brown.

  • 2013

    Albany Ultima Kilojoule Controlled Brown Bread is launched. Albany Superior Buns & Rolls introduce Sesame Brown, perfect for a high-energy kick-start!

  • 2016

    Albany D’light launches with three variants: Butter Flavoured Speciality bread, “Cin'o pop” Cinnamon and Popcorn Flavoured Speciality bread and Raisin and Cinnamon Speciality bread.
