Full tummies, full hearts
In honour of Mandela Month and wanting to keep up the spirit of giving, Albany launched it’s first Sarmies for Smiles event.
Sarmies for Smiles, the first event of its kind for Albany, and was born out of the desire to get hands-on in making a difference. While Albany is known for their donation of one million loaves to various causes, this event aimed to bring the Albany community together for an interactive day of sandwich making and smiles.
Taking place at The Living Room in the Maboneng Precinct, the day was a resounding success.
Participants including Albany staff, selected consumers and brand ambassador DJ Zinhle all worked furiously to make 1000 sandwiches in 2 hours! Albany consumer, Tebogo Pin-Pin shared his love and gratitude in sharing the day with us, “ Thank you very much for giving us an opportunity to help you spread love, smiles and freshness! We had lots of fun!”
The 1000 sandwiches were delivered by the team to the African Children’s Feeding Scheme in Soweto, where they were handed out to 500 underprivileged children. Operating throughout JHB and surrounds, the ACFS works tirelessly to improve the quality of life for those hardest hit by poverty – in particular orphans, vulnerable children and child-headed households.
“On behalf of the African Children’s Feeding Scheme, more importantly the less fortunate children, I would like to express our sincere, heartily felt gratitude for the outstanding event you organised for our children. To the Albany brand, your support has positively impacted the educational outcomes. Thank you so much to the entire wonderful team that worked so hard to prepare those sandwiches.” Executive Director, Phindile Hlalele
It was a truly special day filled with laughter, smiles and love.
