1970/80's: This is when it all began. Together, Tiger Oats and National Milling Co took over a number of independent bakeries and created Albany Bakeries. By the time the Germiston bakery was completed Albany represented 20%
2003/2004 Albany launched Best of Both to deliver a bread that looks and tastes like white, but with all the goodness of brown.
2006 Albany re-launched the Olde Cape Range with New Packaging and two delicious New Flavours: White Seed Loaf, and Low G.I. Brown Seed Bread. They also launched the first Low GI Seed loaf in the sandwich market – Albany Superior Low G.I. Bread.
2007 Albany has a delicious makeover and launches two new additions to the family. They were Albany Olde Cape Muesli and Fruit: A healthy, great tasting, grab-&-go snack. And Albany Superior Hi top White Bread: Bringing back an age old tradition with superior quality.
2008 Albany further extends the Low GI offering and makes it accessible to white bread lovers by launching Albany Superior Low G.I. White Bread.
2009 Albany 100% Smooth Wholegrain is launched: Offering all the goodness of wholegrain and double fibre, but with all the smoothness of white bread that kids love!
2010 Albany once again proves they are leaders in innovation by launching Albany Everyday Bread: Albany quality in everyday family value bread (Only available in Western Cape). And Albany Superior Buns: All the goodness & freshness of Albany Superior sliced bread rolled into a Bun (Available in Albany Superior's family favourites Best of Both White, Low G.I. Seeded Brown, Low G.I. White, 100% Smooth Wholegrain).
